007//MUST LISTEN: STUART PRICE a.k.a Les Rythmes Digitales, Thin White Duke, Jacques Lu Cont, etc.

007//MUST LISTEN: STUART PRICE a.k.a Les Rythmes Digitales, Thin White Duke, Jacques Lu Cont, etc.

Who is Stuart Price?

Stuart Price, an English lad who got to known as Les Rythmes Digitales, Think White Duke, Jacques Lu Cont, Paper Faces, Man with Guitar and member of Zoot Women.

Duke's Story
Price's use of the names Jacques Lu Cont and Les Rythmes Digitales was initially a reference to the explosion in demand for French house in the United Kingdom during the 1980s and 1990s; artists such as Daft Punk, Etienne de Crécy, Dimitri from Paris and Air were all experiencing surges in popularity. Price even went as far as to conduct interviews with British journalists in French via an interpreter. In interviews from around this time, Price also claimed that he had grown up listening exclusively to classical music, until one day encountering the album Dare by the Human League. He also claimed to be a huge Pet Shop Boys fan, since he got his first synthesiser making him able to play songs such as "West End Girls". Certainly, Price was heavily influenced by music from the 1980s, and all his records and sideprojects bear a heavy debt to the 80s sounds of synthpop bands.

As a Producer
Price has produced, and at times co-written, numerous songs for popular artists. Price has also remixed and re-produced numerous songs under his own name as well as the names Thin White Duke (originally used by David Bowie), Jacques Lu Cont, and Les Rhythmes Digitales. Other aliases include Man with Guitar and Paper Faces (an alias for him and Adam Blake of the band Zoot Woman). Price's remixes are characterised by club-lead beats with arpeggios, riffs, and vocal lines faded and filtered throughout the song for a climactic effect. He favours keeping the original vocal arrangement of songs and re-contextualizing the lyrical content in creating his new versions.

Work with Madonna
Price is best known for his work with Madonna which spanned almost a decade culminating in Madonna's tenth studio album Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005). He began collaborating with Madonna as musical director for her 2001 Drowned World Tour after remixing some of the tracks on her Music album via Mirwais. He reprised the role for her 2004 Re-Invention World Tour and 2006 Confessions Tour. Price created remixes for the album's singles "Hung Up", "Sorry" (under the Man with Guitar alias), "Get Together", and "Jump", as well as the album tracks "I Love New York" and "Let It Will Be" (under the Paper Faces alias). Price co-wrote the song "X-Static Process" for Madonna's 2003 album American Life. Price has also remixed the Madonna songs "Hollywood" from American Life and "Miles Away" from the album Hard Candy. Madonna chose his remix of "Hollywood" for her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Missy Elliott.

Work with The Killers
Price's work with The Killers began with his remix of their hit single "Mr. Brightside", released under the Thin White Duke name. Subsequently, Price remixed the song "When You Were Young", the first single from The Killers album "Sam's Town". Price produced two of the tracks re-recorded for the release of The Killers' B-sides album, Sawdust: "Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf" and "Sweet Talk". His remix of "Mr. Brightside" appeared as a bonus track on that release. Price went on to produce The Killers' third studio album, "Day & Age", released on 24 November 2008. He also created an extended remix of the lead single "Human" released under the Thin White Duke name. Price also worked for The Killers vocalist Brandon Flowers' debut solo album Flamingo, producing most of the songs on it, including the second single "Only the Young". The album was released on September 6 in the UK and Ireland and September 14 in the US and Canada.

Other production work
Price was the album producer on Seal's fifth studio album System, which was released in November 2007. He also co-wrote several of the album's songs. Price was among the producers of Keane's album Perfect Symmetry, which was released in October 2008.
Price was also reported to be working with New Order's Bernard Sumner on a "synthesiser album". However, it appears the project has been shelved.
Price co-produced the new Scissor Sisters album, released on 28 June 2010, entitled Night Work. The first track to be released from the album is "Invisible Light", which can be previewed at the Scissor Sisters website. The first official single off the album was "Fire With Fire", followed by "Any Which Way".
Price is the executive producer for Kylie Minogue's 11th studio album titled Aphrodite which was released on 5 July 2010. On 11 June, the hit single "All the Lovers" was released, and later "Get Outta My Way", which was remixed by Price into an extended version.

OLD IS GOLD// STATELESS - BLOODSTREAM

With the mellow vocal and tunes, it somehow reminds me of Portishead. Good music, worth listening again and again.

005//MUST LISTEN: HUORATRON

Meet the $$ troopers!

Bio

Huoratron is the musical solo project of Aku Raski, a bearded powerplant of a man. With his harsh and hardly danceable sounds he has tried to rock dancefloors for years already.

Behind the name (“Whore-a-tron”) is Aku Raski, who was involved in the retro electro group Nu Science around the turn of the century, and released his solo debut “Koottava” MCD in 2000. In year 2002 Huoratron was born, first as a project, where Raski very effectively used two Game Boy consoles to produce experimental electro.house

Since then, he’s updated his gear but maintained the tough sound and raw aesthetics. This spring finally saw the release of Huoratron’s debut EP “$$ Troopers”. As a member of the New Judas collective, Huoratron has found its place among the movement in raw electronic dance music led by such names as Daft Punk, Justice and Boys Noize.

The BIGGER, BETTER, FASTER beat of French Electrofunkdustrial!

Bio

French electro producer, Sawgood was born in March 2009; only one month later his dirty sound destroyed the Kissy Sell Out Show on BBC Radio 1, Loca Fm, Urban Fabric Fm and a lot of web radios. His style is between dark electro, with a loud atmosphere, and hype fidget, intented for dancefloor and more recently with heavy dubstep. He's loved by novices and initiated. We can easily recognize his touch with his loud basses and his punchy drums. he already: official remix: Chase & Status, Blatta Inesha, Toxic Avenger. Benny Benassi Presents the Biz (Fan Video) Planet of the Apes Party Fun Time

Benny and the Apes

A video made by Brad Hasse to show the love of him for Benny Benassi & Planet of the Apes.

It's a very fun and creative music videos which reminds me of Chemical Brother's "Get Yourself High"

Below is the video and description from Brad Hasse.

Directed, Edited, Concept by Brad Hasse (bradhasse.com)
Visual Effects and Design by EP*Vision (epvision.tv)
East Pleasant Pictures (eastpleasant.com)

EP*Vision team includes: Maryam Parwana & Brian Walsh

Sound Mix by: Tim Korn

The footage is from the original 1968 "Planet of the Apes"

The music is a medley of songs from Benny Benassi Presents The Biz- "Hypnotica" album (Get Loose, Satisfaction, Time, I Wanna Touch Your Soul)

*DISCLAIMER:
Dear movie studio and Benny Benassi- this video is not intended for commercial use. It is simply a side project created for the fun of it. I like apes and monkeys, I like classic movies like this one, I like dance music, I like Benny Benassi, and I used to like glowsticks when I was 19... so I made this video.

If the usage of this footage or music for this artistic expression causes any issues with you, please contact me directly (info found easily at bradhasse.com) and I'll take it down. But ever since this idea popped into my head, I couldn't help but try to make it for the fun of it to see what it would look like if Charlton Heston found a few glowsticks, turntables, and an insatiable urge to dance. Since I work with some amazing graphics people, we decided to just give it a go. This is a result of that collaboration.

002//MUST LISTEN: THE TOXIC AVENGER

002//MUST LISTEN: THE TOXIC AVENGER

The man behind the mask gonna tear you down!

Bio

The Toxic Avenger “ANGST”
It’s midnight. You’re out of gas. As you veer from the country road, your headlights scan the empty field. Suddenly, a lonely, masked figure fills the light. You try to scream, but all you hear is the pulse in your temples as the Toxic Avenger yanks the rip-chord of a rusty chainsaw.
Named one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s “Artist to Watch”, the story of The Toxic Avenger (AKA Simon Delacroix) is like a warped VHS copy of a snuff film. He joined a grown-up Parisian hardcore band at age twelve. By age 22 he was packing venues with a growling new sound that left the faint at heart weak in the knees. Today Simon Delacroix is more than a paradigm-shifting producer (Roy Music-Universal), he’s a world-renowned remixer (Ladytron, Peaches, FF5, Chromeo, Beni Benassi feat Kelis). An iconic DJ, and diabolical hero of his own, twisted, grind-house epic. As a producer, The Toxic Avenger smashes through the windshield of electronic music, grabs it by the throat, and drags its body into the night where it is bathed in light and the terrible roar of his machine. His trademark, crime scene noir, coupled with the stomach-knotting ruthlessness of bass, defies all logic, inspiring an entirely new way of thinking about dance music.
To The Toxic Avenger, the dance floor is his theater, his audience, and his prey. He saws at the crowd with mind-scrambling spirals of gunmetal. He fires from speaker stacks with cinematic shrieks that dive down your brain stem and electrocute the body. No one can escape. Like the Ace of Spades, his calling card is to leave all his victims begging for more.
Stalking the shadows of Paris, The Toxic Avenger spreads his reign of terror from Europe, to the US, Latin America, Asia, Australia, and South Africa; playing along side acts like Run Dmc, Crystal castles, Lil jon, SebAstian, the death set, Diplo, Jamaica, bloody beetroots or Vitalic,
Following up 2007’s Superheroes EP, 2008’s Bad Girls Need Love Too, 2009’s Toxic is Dead and Scion CD Sampler Vol. 26, Delacroix is fresh off the release of his 2 latest EPs, N’importe Comment, a collaboration with controversial Parisian rap iconoclast, Orelsan (#1 of the French TV music video charts airplay in 2010) and Angst one on which he invited his friends SomethingAlamode and their violins to create the magic bridge on this hybrid track both deeply melodious and radically electronic. The spring of 2011 will be a incredible time for The Toxic Avenger as he goes for his first big kill in the form of a feature-length LP entitled, “ANGST”. Hatched in Morocco. “ANGST” is a diverse, pop-format bloodbath: punk-electro, dark folk, bliphop anthems, and of course, his trademark thriller beats; crafted along with a conspiracy of elite vocalists he met down his Parisian avenue or along the road: Annie (NO), Simon elle est bonne (FR), Lexicon (US), BonjourAfrique (FR), South central (UK), Messinian (US)..

001//MUST LISTEN: PROXY

001//MUST LISTEN: PROXY

The russian electro music revolution, the emerging of new power.

Bio

From the ashes of the Soviet empire, from the flames of history, rises PROXY. Post 9/11 rave vibes cloaked in Muscovite angst. A line drawn in smoking rubble along the border dividing East and West, Stüssy and Spetsnaz. .. .. 1997. The Year of Tar and Horses. The Prodigy plays Red Square in Moscow. Hundreds of thousands of people attend the show, but only one is truly changed. By the crushing sound. By people absolutely losing their shit to synths and sustained aggression... .. The experience causes PROXY to question the quality and purpose of Russian “electrica” acts like Nu-Lag Xpressions and Sweatislav. There was simply no scene from which to emerge. “Whatever a fool does, he does it wrong. A poor dancer is impeded even by his own balls,” he recalls... .. In a decade’s time, PROXY would be remixing Prodigy and opening for them on a massive tour of Russia... .. 2004. PROXY grows interested in the increasingly punishing sounds of the electro scene, as he hears Tiga sing “Hey You Little Children of Glasnost” at the W Hotel in Anzhero-Sudzhensk. .. .. 2006. PROXY reaches out to Tiga via his MySpace page. Thomas Von Party intercepts the message and is stunned by fully formed landmines like “Destroy”. Masquerading as Tiga, he signs PROXY to Turbo Recordings, beginning his own deceit-fueled ascent up the biz-ladder of the music ladder-business... .. 2007 to present. PROXY earns respect and awe from such heavyweights as Justice, Soulwax, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan and Mr. Oizo with astonishing, severe tracks like “Decoy”, “Dance in Dark” and the massive “Raven”, which merits special mention not just because of its ubiquity, but because it illustrates in full the singular power of PROXY MUSIC... .. Recall, if you will, the first time you were ever caught in an explosion. Close enough to the blast that the only things that register are a light beyond blinding and a sound that arrives too soon. Now imagine that as you lose your body to the fire you are reassembled, better, your self subsumed by something far greater (for many, this experience seems to manifest itself as sitting in obedient unison). The sound now commands you, transmuting you into the screaming, searing blare... .. PROXY has also produced remixes for Peaches, Prodigy, Tiga, Boys Noize, Chromeo, Digitalism, Moby and a host of others willing to pay him in Kocmoc cigarettes. The coming months will see him co-headline a huge New Year’s Eve show with Soulwax in Australia and embark on his first North American tour, which will include shows at major festivals. .. .. As rumor fills the Earth of the impending release of his debut album, PROXY demurs, “I hear it, and it’s mine, and you stay away from me,” before reluctantly conceding that it will drop in 2010. .. .. “My music tells you what to do, but never why. Your ear may be afraid, but your body completes its labor.”

Sunburst 2009, Malaysia

Jonathan from Korn

Pharrell from N.E.R.D.

Skye from Morcheeba

Went to Sunburst 2009 last weekend, i had an awesome experience! Been listening to Korn for like 15 years? This is the 1st time ever i see them on stage performing live! This might be the first and the last time i see the in live. I believe there's a very slim chance for Korn and N.E.R.D. to come back to Malaysia to perform again, you know why i say so if you were there.

Besides that there's only little crowd there for Skye from Morcheeba, compare to other international artist. She sang with her beautiful voice and i can see crowds are enjoying it so much.

Too bad i don't have like to SUPER DSLR camera or else i will take lots of pics. hahahaha.... Hopefully the line up for next year sunburst will be bigger than this year.
